Visit Hollywood

Things to do and see in and around Hollywood village, County Wicklow.

Hollywood sits at the western end of the Wicklow Gap and at the gateway to some of Wicklow's best scenery and heritage. Here's a guide to eating, drinking, walking, and exploring in the village and nearby.

Eat & drink

The Hollywood Inn – A traditional gastro pub established in 1790 at the western end of the Wicklow Gap. It has won awards including Best Gastro Pub in Wicklow and is known for generous portions of quality food in a setting with rustic stone-walled courtyards. Reservations are recommended. Hollywood Café & Shop – An award-winning café in a traditional Irish cottage that was once the post office (from 1855). It opened in 2018 and focuses on fresh, seasonal, and local produce, with Irish and international dishes and wood-fired cooking. Tel: 045 863 097.

Tutty's – A friendly bar in the village, ideal for a pint and a chat with locals.

See & do

The Hollywood Sign – The village's famous sign on the hillside can be seen from the village, and a purpose-built pathway lets you walk up to it. One of the most photographed spots in Wicklow. See our Hollywood Sign page for the full story.

St Kevin's Way – Hollywood is a key point on this pilgrim path. The trail runs from Hollywood to the monastic site of Glendalough (about 30 km), following an ancient route used by pilgrims for centuries.

Piper's Stones (Athgreany) – A Bronze Age stone circle about 2–3.5 km south of Hollywood, near the N81. The circle has granite stones up to almost 2 m high and is associated with a local tale about dancers turned to stone. Check access with local information as the site is on private land.

Church Mountain (Slieve Gad) – About 2.6 km southeast of the Piper's Stones. The mountain has a large ruined cairn that once held a passage-tomb and an early Christian church. Popular with walkers for views over the area.

Poulaphouca – The celebrated waterfall (Poul-a-Phuca) has one side within the Hollywood parish. A scenic spot to combine with a drive or walk in the area.

Church of St Kevin – In the village, with a 17th-century vaulted roof. St Kevin is said to have spent time in Hollywood before moving to Glendalough.
